Subclass 482​ - Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (TSS)

This is a temporary visa to live and work in Australia. Those skilled professionals looking to work for a short period of time outside the country can opt for this. This is an Australian employer sponsored visa also known as Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (TSS). The main intention of this visa is to introduce overseas talents in a targeted manner to alleviate the temporary shortage of skills in the Australian labor market.

You can apply under one of the below streams for Subclass 482

Short-term Stream

• Visa is valid for up to 2 years
• Application process time is about 3 months

Eligibility Criteria under this stream

• Should meet the English language requirement as defined by the Australian Government
• Nominated occupation must be on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)
• Should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience

Medium-term Stream

• Visa is valid for up to 4 years
• Application time is about 70 days

Labour Agreement Stream

Employers introduce overseas skilled workers from overseas through labour agreements

Although this is a temporary visa, if the applicant is holding a "medium-term stream" and meet certain conditions, he/she can apply for an Australian employer's guarantee 186 or 187 visa to obtain permanent residency in Australia. In addition, the applicant gains extra points in the Australia's work experience which will be another way to apply for the skilled immigrant visas!
