Canada Immigration is a point-based system mainly, Express Entry Program is preferred for Canada Immigration. These points are also called a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
What Are Canada’s Comprehensive Ranking System?
Candidates are ranked for immigration to Canada using a comprehensive Ranking System. The system assign points based on the information provided on your immigration application. Points are assigned on the following factors: age, education, language fluency, and Canadian work experience.
Without Partner:
Age – Max 110 points can be assigned. Maximum points are given for individuals who are aged between 20 and 29. For individuals, above 45 age or under 17 age are given 0 points.
Education – Max 150 points can be assigned. The maximum points are given for those with a university degree at a doctoral level.
Language Fluency – It is split into two categories: official language proficiency and second official language. The official language category is subdivided into four categories: reading, writing, talking and listening. Max points assigned for each category is 34 points. You are given points based on how you score on the CLB level. The highest level is above 10. The second official language category is divided into the same subdivisions as an official language with a maximum of 24 points per category.
Canadian Work Experience – the maximum points that can be is 80. This maximum point is given for work experience over 5 years or more.
With Partner (spouse or common-law partner):
Age – Max 110 points can be assigned.
Education – points are assigned in a range of 0-10. Both a master’s degrees and a doctorate are assigned 10 points.
Language Fluency – It is split into the official language and the second official language. Each category is further subdivided into 4 subsections. For each category, your partner can be assigned a maximum of 5 points for a total of 20 points.
Canadian Work Experience – Max 10 points can be assigned to an individual with 5 or more years of work experience in Canada.
The next category that has a maximum of 100 points assigned is Skill Transferability Factors. These Skill Transferability Factors include education, foreign work experience, and certificate of qualification.
Finally, an extra 600 points can be assigned. These points are assigned based on the following factors: arranged employment (a job offer), siblings living in Canada (as either a citizen or a permanent resident), post-secondary education in Canada, French language skills, and a provincial nomination. Therefore, there is a maximum of 1,200 immigration points available.
